Based in Philadelphia, Tierra Whack started writing poetry as a child to help express herself and her feelings. As a teenager, she became a well-known battle rapper in Philadelphia under the name “Dizzle Dizz”. However, the reputation, resulting fame, and a sense of stagnation began to wear on her, and she credits a move to Atlanta as a teenager as the beginning of a journey to truly find herself and her voice. Working at the famous Mister Car Wash in Atlanta, Whack saved up enough money to purchase a laptop and began recording herself. Flash forward to now, flush with critical acclaim, Whack has moved back to Philadelphia and remains as down-to-earth as she always has. Regardless of fame, acclaim, and Fader cover stories, Tierra Whack’s focus has always remained the same: producing and writing the truest expressions of herself.
